The Digital Information & Marketing Strategist is responsible for recommending and implementing web-based technologies and electronic marketing tools/tactics that will help meet organizational objectives through the use of technology in both virtual and real world settings. The Digital Information & Marketing Strategist is charged with the creation of online concepts and initiatives needed by Federation to better utilize its website(s) and online engagement tools, as well as for developing and implementing cutting edge technologies needed to expand our in-person, e-philanthropy, advocacy and viral engagement opportunities. This will include working with departmental staff to translate Federation challenges and goals into the specific programs/initiatives needed to provide more information and engagement for our existing constituents – staff, lay leaders and donors – and particularly, growing involvement of our next generation supporters.
Major areas of responsibility include:
1. Developing and implementing strategies for disseminating key messages using online channels, social media and Web 2.0.
2. Developing existing and piloting strategies for utilizing Web 2.0.
3. Providing expert advice and training to colleagues on digital communications and use of technology/technology resources.
4. Writing and editing copy and sourcing rich media content for online social media channels, and creating content (video/photo/flash) for web and staff/lay use.
5. Working across departments to understand their needs to enhance strategic cooperation.
6. Monitoring programs/initiatives, providing feedback on results and fine tuning programs.
7. Strong interaction and partnerships with lay leadership in the fields of technology and Web 2.0.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of five years of experience in online concepts and strategy, including knowledge of the latest web authoring software, internet technologies, social media, web applications, marketing/communications, technology/software and fundraising. The Digital Information & Marketing Strategist must be capable of working well independently and as part of a team, with both lay and professional partners. Must have strong leadership skills and experience; must have excellent written and verbal communication skills; and be goal-oriented. Experience with the non-profit community is a plus.
Other skills required:
· A detailed understanding of Web 2.0 and the importance of content across different platforms.
· Hands-on experience of administering tools such as blogs, auctions, mobile applications, discussion forums, wikis, web chats and social media spaces.
· Understanding of the benefits and challenges of using web 2.0 channels in Federation communications.
· Experience using RSS and other tools to aggregate and monitor activity.
· Ability to explain social media concepts in plain language and promote the benefits of integrated communications, as well as to instruct others in use.
· Experience creating and/or editing content for web sites, Facebook, Twitter, etc.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with varying deadlines.
Interest and passion for staying informed and up-to-date on the latest technologies, trends, sites and software.
Ability to hit the ground running and willingness to champion the importance of new and different approaches to our work.
PC literate with strong competency in all Microsoft Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and video editing/photo rendering software/programs.
Understanding of database driven web applications and experience in their development, LAMP programming and Agile development would be a plus.
