Susie,

I do not think there is a site selection committee. Furthermore, the Social Media Technology Center is not eligible for Third Frontier grant funding. We discovered that we need to have an established venture fund before we can apply for Third Frontier money for a center. So, for the next grant cycle, we can only submit an application for the Social Media Venture Fund.

I should have added that in my previous posting. I apologize.

I agree. I think Michael's review and blessing is essential to its success, and we may only have one shot at this.

I do think, during the lull, it would be appropriate for the site selection committee to review and assess sites. (IS there a site selection committee?)

And I would love to sit down with Glenn and discuss staffing. He has done a wonderful job of putting together descriptions, but I think in order for the project to succeed initially, it won't be necessary to be that top heavy at first. I think somehow responsibilities need to be combined into 3 positions up front.
Does anyone know Steve Cadwell? He is the immediate past exec director of the Shaker Nature Center and he may have valuable input re: paperwork - I think he procured a bunch of grants as exec director. He is on Twitter and FB.

Glen,

After meeting with TechLift and JumpStart, it was decided to forgo applying for the Third Frontier grant for this grant cycle. Once Michael returns from his Europe trip, the group will reconvene to begin working on the proposals for the next grant cycle in late 2009.

Hi everyone.
I've noticed that no one has posted on this matter in quite some time.
Does Michael's departure tentatively hinder the groups forward momentum, or is the over-all process slow by nature?
If by chance anyone in the group has any information as far as where we stand concerning the groups objectives, please post this information so we might maximize use of our time on the 25th in a break out session, or something along those lines.
Thanks in advance.

I've sent this to people individually, when I should have been presenting to the group.
Is this adequate? Should I draft another for the other potential positions?
Feedback would be great.

potential site suggestion 2: 1937 Prospect Ave., my old family business bldg. now owned by Lou Frangos. 5 story, 10,000 sf per floor, parking underneath, alley & loading dock, freight and passenger elevator, HUGE electrical capacity, parking lot next door, across the street from the CSU convocation center. Very suitable to installing indiv suites with shared services. Big, big equipment can be easily moved up 5 floors (bldg was originally an automotive assembly plant), concrete floors can support huge weights. Bill Pappas, Cleve photog, had offices on 5th floor and would take his car to work up the freight elevator.

potential site suggestion: Greater Heights Academy downtown - building on Prospect Avenue, not far from Cleveland's Public Square - charter school that closed at the end of November - I think it is relatively remodeled. It is owned by Gibby Singerman. His son is Eric Singerman of Columbia in Beachwood. I have contact info if interested.

I think it would be a good idea if Matt or Michael posted a brief summary of 2-20-09 Phoenix Coffee meeting with who attended, etc.
