This would have been a good thing to go to. I think this would be a great thing to have in the Cleveland area. They had some great break our sessions and speakers.

Just throwing this out there:

Today, Nov 19, the city of Grand Rapids, Michigan was the venue for the 2009 Midwest Social Media Confab:
http://www.aimwest.org/events/november09.htm

From all I can gather, they hit a home run.

I followed the tweetstream, twitpics, and other messages coming from here. Big highlight was the lunchtime presentation by Laura Fitton, aka @pistachio, author of Twitter for Dummies and general Twitter rockstar.

Could Cleveland (or SMCCLE) pull off something like #AimWest? Do we want to? Should we want to?

Thanks Jeff!

The good news is, we've had an overwhelming amount of individuals/groups wanting to host meetings. The bad news is we are already planning into Sept./Oct. for meetings. Email me at DJLitten at gmail dot com and we can figure out specifics.

We expect anywhere from 30-50 people at the events, plus rooms for breakout sessions.

If you guys host, Jamie HAS to show up, right?

Do we have a venue selected for the May meeting? Am looking into having one at Great Lakes Science Center and it seems promising.

Thoughts?

Jen & I were discussing activities we want to engage the group in one month. I am not exactly sure what yet but if there are any suggestions we are willing to take over and organize. The thought was that while sitting, drinking, and talking works (in the "if it ain't broke" kind of way) but there might be something else we can do while talking and drinking. maybe as simple as being outside at a pavillion one month when the days get longer. Feel free to throw out some ideas and we can run with it

The LeanDog office (boat) is awesome. I was there two weeks ago for a code retreat. I'd suggest taking advantage of this when its warm enough to utilize the top deck patio.

Kate Eidam from Falls also offered their location for a future event.
